well, we bought our plane tickets. We will officially be leaving for New Zealand on January 7th, and will be returning to the States on the 30th of June. On our way back, we are spending a week in Fiji! We tossed this idea around for a while, but for some reason, the website we got tickets from decided it was actually cheaper to go to Fiji instead of straight home. So we saved money by deciding to go to Fiji. Can't really think of a whole lot of things cooler than that
So we got our sleeping bags today. Although calling them bags is a bit of a stretch. Technically they are sleeping quilts. They are like sleeping bags, but the back and bottom open up to essentially create a quilt. Your back is kept warm with the sleeping pad. Anyway, I would like to thank Enlightened Equipment for the free sleeping quilts. and I am looking forward to testing mine out.
So the Wifi at the house has been out for a while, but in the past week Pat and I have received our rain kilts. I am absurdly excited to be able to put them to use, and have actually considered buying an actual kilt for the trail.
So we have started to hear back from sponsors for our trip. So far we will be receiving a sleeping bag and a rain kilt apiece, from Enlightened Equipment and Zpacks respectively. It will be interesting to see how the rain kilts work out.
